Sing Is King Movie Review
Subhash K. Jha: Indian film actor Akshay Kumar took to his turban, stiletto and whiskers in "Singh Is King" with absolute passion, but director of the film sing is king Anees Bazmi couldn't persuade seasoned actor Om Puri, who plays the role of a sardar in the movie sing is king, to sport beard.
Work-wise 2008-09 is one of Om's best phases ever. He also expects that Sing Is King Songs will prove a big box office hit. There is nothing much rumored about Download Sing Is King Songs, since the music is not released yet.
"That's true," acknowledges Om. "But I had a exceptionally convincing reason for saying no to the beard. My facial skin is sensitive to beards. I get itchiness from facial hair. So I played the sardar role in 'Singh Is King' with all the other necessities excluding the beard.
On the other hand, for Jagmohan Mundhra's "Shoot On Sight", Om had no preference but to have a beard.
"It's the character of a fundamentalist maulvi, an awfully influential part with spectacular speeches, and I couldn't play a maulvi with no beard. But my face went through agony," he stated.
He says, "I had a small but influential role in Rakeysh's 'Rang De Basanti'. Now I've far more opportunity in 'Dilli 6'. I've shot for almost forty days. My role is the father of the girl (Sonam Kapoor's).
